Biography

As an economist and an idealist, it is my hope that free markets will increasingly provide social value and justice in the world. In a broad sense, I am a Corporate Social Responsibility researcher, commentator, and advocate. This blog is my quest to make sense of the CSR landscape, both today and in the future.

Bio: Melissa Tritter is a research assistant at Harvard Business School, working with Prof. Dutch Leonard on issues of corporate social responsibility, mission focus, external stakeholder campaigns, strategic focus for non-profits, crisis management and organizational resiliency. Melissa also works with the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College, and is a part-time consultant with Sustainable Business Strategies. She has twice consulted for the World Bank Institute's Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility Team, most recently focusing on private-sector efforts to address worldwide malnutrition. Melissa leads the Boston Professional Chapter of Net Impact, a national organization dedicated to using the power of business to create a better world. She is also on the Editorial Board for 1bloc.com, the social-networking website for young social entrepreneurs that was founded by Starting Bloc in 2006. From 2002-2003, Melissa taught Macroeconomics and International Trade & Finance at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore. Prior to that, she taught at Hunan Normal University in P.R. China. From 1999-2002, Melissa was at the economic consultancy Charles River Associates. She is a graduate of The Fletcher School at Tufts University, where she earned her Masters in Law and Diplomacy. Interests

A slow but steady runner, I've completed six marathons and hope to run more of them. I'm also an avid swimmer, and spent my teenage years lifeguarding on Cape Cod. I enjoy travel, and especially enjoy longer stays in a new culture. Newer interests include meditation, sustainable lifestyles, kayaking, hiking and gardening. I'm also a coffee addict, and can be found lurking (and writing) in any of the several cafes near my home.
